Laravel 11, Vue 3 + TypeScript services for a Slovenian multi-service network, including a pre-launch platform

• Built out one Laravel module from a bare skeleton (a few models) into a full feature set, and maintained four public-facing ones (permissions, payment records, notifications, weather). Sole engineer for 5 months, then onboarded all five engineers as the team grew to six.

• Made our database the source of truth for documents in a third-party storage API shared with clerk uploads and an e-signature service: versioned status history, rollback of files and records on failure.

• Integrated SOAP and REST services behind stubbed interfaces ; designed REST APIs with consistent error responses; rewrote part of a Lotus Notes integration. Wrote services for filling and converting word and PDF files to PDF/A.

• Moved heavy work (document generation, emails, API calls) to Horizon-managed queues; reduced queries with eager loading and indexes; trimmed API responses to the fields used.

• Pest feature tests for every controller and service with mocked APIs and filesystem, enforced in GitLab CI with GrumPHP. Monitored errors across environments and modules with Sentry. Secured uploads with magic-byte validation and ClamAV.

• Built Python automations with Claude and Ollama for log parsing (Nginx, Docker, PHP) and translating Slovenian documents to English. Extended the Vue 3 + TypeScript frontend with TanStack Query.

Led delivery of three EU Commission Drupal sites, including their migration from Drupal 8 to 9 and 10.

• Gathered requirements, ran weekly client calls and demos, and made technical decisions.

• Reviewed code and planned the allocation of up to two part-time developers with their manager.

• Wrote technical documentation and supported non-technical stakeholders through implementation.

• Used Graylog to aggregate and search logs across environments and services (Drupal, Docker) when debugging production issues.

ETP (European Training Platform): Search tool providing courses for justice professionals across Europe

• Replaced a manual 70-page Excel/PDF report with a public interactive dashboard (dynamic filters, data and chart exports), shaped by sitting with its users.

• Built a non-public import module with a standardized Excel template for consistent input and number formats.

• Replaced manual course entry from four vendors with an admin import: choose the source, fetch via API or upload PDF/Word, batch import, and review a results report.

EWSI (European Web Site on Integration): Website providing up-to-date information and good practices on migrant integration in Europe for policymakers and practitioners

• Built a newsletter component builder (Paragraphs, Newsletter module, Open Europa ECL) so editors could compose and send without a developer; trained the editors and tested with the business.

• Hand-coded ECL components as accessible HTML with inline CSS and Outlook conditional handling, and tested delivery via my own SMTP server against Gmail and Outlook since MailHog didn’t match production.

CPP (Child Participation Platform): Platform offering a safe space for children to learn about their rights and voice their opinions

• Chose H5P for interactive content and protected a public form with a custom captcha and Webform honeypot.

• Built a Python pipeline to parse, validate and merge Excel files into a report and merged file, cutting the process from about 5 hours to 5 minutes.

• Provided user support by phone, onboarded new members, applied Windows security updates, and upgraded hardware.

• Noticed that daily mail retrieval took 2 to 3 hours of manual work while we were also handling support calls and onboarding, and automated it with PowerShell on my own initiative. The script retrieved emails and attachments, generated an Excel report, and alerted when a run was ready for review.

• Built and extended custom and contrib Drupal 7, 8 and 9 modules.

• Built complete websites and migrated sites from WordPress, Drupal 6 and Drupal 7 to Drupal 9.

• Worked for a US client (NDA) with teammates across UK, US, Canada, Slovenia and India.

• Managed AWS backups and database copies.

• Built a decoupled Vue.js frontend (Vue Router, Vuex) consuming a Go backend API.

• Worked on a Laravel, Vue.js and MySQL product.

• Built a Selenium test suite and handled general QA.

• Wrote a Bash live-USB installer that deployed LAMP stacks on Ubuntu servers at client sites.
